Figure Drawing and Painting Workshops

Hosted by Patrick Farrand, life-drawing workshops are for artists of all skill levels to practice drawing the human form. Pose lengths vary during each 3-hour workshop session, but we generally start with short poses and proceed to longer poses.

Cost: Group sessions (3 hours) $15 or a block of ten for $130 ($20 discount!) Private sessions (1 hour of one-on-one instruction) $30.

Ceramics/Pottery Workshops

Hosted by Sonia Farrand, ceramics classes include an emphasis on hand-built and/or wheel-thrown techniques. Small groups, private lessons, and children’s workshops are available. Classes are tailored to meet each student’s interests and skill level, from the curious beginner to the advanced ceramic artist.

Cost: Private sessions (1 hour of one-on-one instruction and an additional hour of independent studio time) $30. Small group instruction also available.

Children’s Art Classes

The artists of the future are invited to hone their artistic skills in small group ceramics, drawing, painting, and general art classes at Studio 1021. When most schools have cut back art education or eliminated it completely, your young artist can still garner the benefits of art classes at Studio 1021. Art classes promote the development of fine motor skills, build self-esteem, foster creative expression, and are simply fun! At Studio 1021, we model our instruction after the classic curriculum used in high schools and universities, so your child will advance in demanding art programs if he/she chooses to pursue the visual arts.

Your child may choose to focus on a specific artistic medium for an in-depth education, or alternate between activities to provide an introduction to various media.

Cost: Group sessions (1 hour) $25 per session. Each workshop has a maximum capacity of 5 students in order to give each child the optimal individual guidance. Materials are provided for ceramics instruction, but students will be required to bring materials for drawing and painting classes. Classes are open to children 8-15 years of age. Private sessions $30 per hour.
